  • An omen?

I had a couple of very vivid dreams that I think may mean something…

    The Spa
    Scene 1: Mailing List

We have a mailing list at work for this Knowledge Management Initiative that we are involved in (our whole database conversion to a collaborative system.) One of the girls participating in the list said she was going to a spa and wanted to know if anyone else was interested in joining her. I said I was.

    Scene 2: Spa

So I arrive at the spa and there are two other girls there, that I had never met, but we knew of each other through the mailing list. The one seems kind of bossy and stand-offish. I look around and notice a sign up in the bathroom saying that an inventory has been taken of every item in the room. I ask her about this and she said “I ordered everything about this room. Toiletries, plants, dishes, food.”

The room had one king sized bed, two very narrow twin beds, and a daybed. I said “We need to decide who is sleeping where. The last time I shared a room, I got the king bed, so I’ll take one of the twins this time.” The girl (who never does have a name) who organized this said “That’s okay. I already claimed the king size bed.”

Then I saw a sign that said “No TV after 8:30. Lights Out.” I asked her about the sign and she said “I’m a morning person. It’s my decision.”

Then other people started arriving, and I pretended I was acquainted with them all (because I am supposed to be active on this list, and I rarely bother with it.)

Then in walks Tyche. Whew! Finally someone I know. We try to talk Tyche‘s nameless, faceless roommate into changing rooms, but she won’t.

    Fade to

    Military waiting room

I’m sitting in a chair waiting to be checked into military boot camp. I am thinking there is no way I can keep up with all these youngsters. 18-19 year-old athletic women. In walks (guess who?) Tyche wearing an officer’s uniform and sits next to me. She is there for officer’s training. I tell her I’m worried I will not be able to handle this but it’s too late to back out. She says “Let’s go for a walk.”

We get up and I say “We can do this? Oh. You’re an officer. You can do whatever you want.” And we start walking. We walk down a few corridors then make our way back. The officer who was standing before us while we were sitting and waiting is talking to a very large, imposing officer and says “Her, number two.” and points to me. The big guy takes me into his office and says “You can’t just go wandering off. You belong to the military now. But that’s something I need to talk to you about.”

I said, “You don’t need to explain. I know. I’m too old and fat. I’ll never pass any of your physical fitness tests.”

He looked at me and said, “You have an attitude. I was going to buy you a fifteen minute lunch, but” and I interrupted him and said “That’s okay, I haven’t really been here long enough to take a 15-minute  break, have I?”

Then I woke up. I remember this vividly because both dreams were right before I got up this morning (afternoon!), and when I did I told them both to Mac.

So here is what I take from them.

I need a spa trip with Tyche and a few other friends, because I need to be kick-started back on the road to good health and Tyche is my idol for the picture of good health LOL. I can’t do anything about my age, but I can do something about my weight and level of fitness

  • I’d be so aggravated in that dream with the first little inventory and lights out bit…let alone the military part. Pffft, I’d never make a good military person. I question orders I do not agree with. Haha!

A spa day sounds awesome tho…a REAL spa day!

  • @teefahknee - I do a real spa day about once a year.  I took my sister this year when she came for Christmas.  What I want is a spa trip – I took one several years ago with friends.  We stayed 5 days and did workouts, took long walks, lectures and discussions on health topics, and I got some one-on-one lessons in kickboxing, as well as all the pampering stuff (massages every day, facials, other spa treatments.)  They feed you very healthy food (1200 calories a day) and offer fruit and plain popcorn for between meal snacks if 1200 calories just doesn’t do it for you.

  • You obviously haven’t seen me lately.    I could use a spa trip!
