  • What do you think your purpose in life is?

This seems, on the face of it, to be a simple question.  And for some people, it is (after reading about 20 of the responses.)

Please allow me to wax philosophical (wow – I never EVER thought I would get a chance to use that phrase!)

Does the question ask if I believe my life is mapped out by fate and until I do “that great thing” or complete some pre-ordained job, what that great thing or pre-ordained job is?  If so, I do not believe in fate, preordination, predetermination, McCarthyism, “God’s will”, etc.

Does that mean my life has no purpose?  Nope.

I GIVE my life purpose.  And my purpose in life is to look out for number one (me), do no harm to others, love, be loved, give, take, experience every day, take nothing for granted, be kind to everyone who is kind to me and even some who are not, and knowing that 70-80 years of living in the grand scheme of things is merely a blink of an eye, to not waste a bit of it.

If I had a religion, it would be hedonism.

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!
