First major repair
My car will be 7 years old this year. (Thanks again to TNuts who pointed me in this direction!) I love my car. I only have about 60,000 miles on it and have kept it maintained as Ford suggested (synthetic oil every 5000 miles, radiator flush, transmission flush, all that stuff when it comes due, change air filter when it gets dirty, etc.) The car has run like a kitten ever since I got it. I paid it off in 2005. It’s been my experience that as soon as you pay a car off, you start dumping money into it. Not so with this one.
But I finally did have to put some money into it. I had to have my brakes done (all four) today. This is the first major repair I have had to put into this car.
Can you guess what my next car will be?
Here’s a hint:

I think if I could have any car I wanted… heck I don’t know for sure, but I want something totally fuel efficient! Unfortunately, my next car will be ‘pre-owned’ and what ever I can afford! LOL
7 years and only brakes is pretty good!
In my mind, brakes don’t count as a major repair. They’re normal maintenance. Let’s hope Ford’s still around when you’re ready to buy.
Ford will definitely be around when you want to buy.
Your entry here today has made me so happy. You fill my heart with pride in the product I make. I love to hear that someone has found vehicle that has served them well and allowed them to not dump money into repairs.
I think you would look sharp in that sexy new Mustang. Blue is your color, baby!
Whenever you are ready to buy, I am happy to help you receive the discount, just as before.
@Gneiss_Guy - I meant, in this case, major as in cost more than $200. Yeah, it’s not like I had to have my transmission overhauled LOL From what I understand, Ford is the only one of the “Big Three” that is viable. Or at least, not losing nearly as much as GM and Chrysler. I remember when they used to say F.O.R.D. stood for Fix Or Repair Daily or Found On Road Dead. This has been a great car.
@beadbrat - Yeah, I agree that 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway isn’t the most fuel efficient, but it’s better than I’d get with, say, a SUV. (Something I had considered at one point.)
@TNuts - Thanks so much, TNuts
I really want to get a new one, but this one is serving me so well, it’s going to be hard to decide for sure! My nephew wants my car, but he’s only 13 or 14 so he’s still not old enough to drive! But I’m his cool aunt because I drive a cool car and play World of Warcraft with him LOL
