Inauguration Day
I work for a pretty liberal organization. I learned a long time ago, especially at work, to keep my political views to myself. We got a 2-hour break from work today to watch the inauguration ceremony.
I have high hopes for President Obama. I hope his inexperience works in our favor, in that he’s not tainted by “this is how we’ve always done it” and that the world looks on him as a worthy leader of a new generation.
But geez – $170 million for festivities? I realize this is historic. It took too long to happen (MLK hoped for it to happen in less than 40 years or in less than 25 – it took 44 from the time he said that.) And maybe it was worthy of all the pomp and circumstance.
I still want to know who is paying for it.

who knows, but as I see it, it was well spent and long over do. Could have heard a pin drop on my carpet when he gave his speech. it was nice to see Bush fly off …..that also was long over do to.
And from what I hear, they cut back on some things. I do know the concert the other day at the Lincoln Memorial was financed by HBO so they could have exclusive rights.
I read that a lot of it was funded by…none other than many of the Wall Street companies that were part of the bail out. Grrrrr. Not liking that!

I wish they would put all of that money into the economy instead of all of the festivities. Let them all go to Burger King for lunch. I am an Obama supporter I just don’t think this is all necessary especially when there are people in the USA living in thier cars and hungry.
Thank you for your comment on my post biodiesel post.
